A NEW NEST

This week things are finally moving and shaking for the Ellis clan.  After a few months of uncertainty, we have chosen to make our new home in Mar Vista, a cozy little community slightly east of Venice and just south of Santa Monica.  For the past month and half we have been scouring Westside Rentals looking for the perfect place to call home.  Without much luck we decided to check out Craig’s List, as well, and low and behold this little gem stood out as having great potential.  I called the landlord to set up an appointment was thrilled that she seemed totally normal and nice (a far cry from the landlords I have been speaking to lately that so much as bark at you).  We set up an appointment and went to check it out yesterday afternoon with our pre-typed rental applications (I'm a total dork) and a check book in hand just in case it was “the one”, which we immediately knew it was.  By 5:00 pm, the landlord called to tell us it was ours!  Yeah!   We signed the lease and picked up the keys today and will begin the move tomorrow.

The house is a cozy 3-bedroom built in the 1940’s with a fireplace and little yard perfect for Annabelle. It appears to be pretty well taken care though definitely has a few rough spots and needs some new paint.  Currently the rooms are painted an adobe color and peach, that just are not sitting well with me.  All in good time, Nathan tells me. The best part of the new house is I will be in very close proximity to Adrienne, Josh and baby Emerson – just blocks away (I think?)  Ade and I have not lived in the same city since our Santa Barbara days, so I am so excited.

Anyway, flying the coop from the Bell house will be bittersweet.  We are eager to be on our own again, but will miss hanging with our “roomies.”  Annabelle has loved getting to know Nani and Papa John so well, which has been just amazing.  She will tell you that herself, now that she likes to say “amazing”.  We will miss our family dinners, grocery shops, and morning walks with stops to the park.  Luckily we are just a mere 45 minutes down the coast and will be able to visit often!  That said, we both thank my parents from the bottom of our hearts for opening their doors to us and letting us stay while we got back on our feet.  Much love.
